Predicting performance of IntuiFace Player for Tablets on an Android-based device

There are a wide variety of Android-based devices on the market, not to mention the ability to select hardware for a fully customized Android-based system. The variability in hardware makes it quite difficult to anticipate IntuiFace Player performance.

That said, knowing the performance of the Chrome browser (both in terms of HTML5 coverage and speed) on a given Android device is crucial to anticipating the performance of IntuiFace Player. This is because Player is a hybrid app, meaning while a small portion runs natively on the Android device, a good portion of it runs within Chrome using HTML5.

    Benchmark Test

The following test was performed for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5”, an Android-based tablet on which IntuiFace Player delivers a smooth experience. Use its result as a benchmark for your own device. The SoC used in the Galaxy Tab S – an ARM Cortex A-15 – is rated at 1.9Ghz.

    • HTML5 performance, measured using this test, scores 600 for Chrome on the Galaxy Tab S . It is our experience that the score should be no less than 600 for smooth performance.

If Chrome performance on your device matches or exceeds this benchmark - and if your device is running at least Android Version 4.4 - then we anticipate Player performance will be adequate.

    Reference Devices

For reference, the following devices perform well:

    • Google Nexus9 - 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 Dual Denver processor at 2.3GHz
    • Samsung Tab S - Exynos™ 5 Octa (1.9Ghz Quadcore + 1.3 Ghz Quadcore)

To test Player itself, install it from Google Play onto your device. If your device doesn’t have access to Google Play or if IntuiFace Player doesn’t appear, contact Support and and we will provide you access to the IntuiFace Player installer.
