Upgrade from 32-bit IntuiFace to 64-bit IntuiFace

Table of Contents

IntuiFace Composer Version 6 and Player for Windows Version 6 are available in two formats, a 32-bit architecture and a 64-bit architecture. Before Version 6, IntuiFace on Windows was only available as a 32-bit application.

    Why a 64-bit architecture?

What's so special about being 64-bits? The 64-bit format can store tremendously more content in memory for onscreen display than the 32-bit format, limited only by the amount of RAM on a PC. This not only means a much higher capacity for quality performance despite showing more content onscreen than in the 32-bit format but it can mean even better overall performance under certain circumstances.

Should anyone not upgrade to the 64-bit IntuiFace?

These are only three reasons you should NOT upgrade to the 64-bit format, and it is very likely that none of these conditions applies to you!

    1. You're using a 32-bit Windows PC to run Composer or Player
    2. You're using 32-bit dll's for custom interface assets.
    3. You're using IntuiFace's out-of-the-box RFID support in your experience. This only works with 32-bit Composer and Player.

    How to upgrade

The next time you run the auto-update mechanism in Composer or Player, you will be asked which version - 64-bit or 32-bit - you'd like to install. Choose the 64-bit version.

Once you've installed the 64-bit version of Composer or Player, future use of the auto-update mechanism will assume you only want to install the 64-bit option and won't ask again.
